Top 10 Ideal NES Games of All time

by Jon Ferraro

It’s definitely not easy coming up with the 10 ideal NES games, but here is my best effort:

10) Duck Hunt - By far, it was the ideal shooting for the NES> It was the reason to have the Nintendo Zapper.

9) Ice Climber - It may not be the deepest game ever developed, but it has grown to a cult like status. It’s still as much fun today as it was 20 years ago.

8) Metroid - Absolutely innovative. Started a monster franchise. It may not be the ideal of the series, but where would it be without it?

7) Zelda II: The Adventure of Link - I know this isn’t a popular one for the Zelda fans. It?s hard game to get into. But once you do you?re totally hooked.

6) Castlevania - It’s kind of a toss up to pick which Castlevania was the ideal. It might not be an simple decision but there is no doubt the original is a classic.

5) Tecmo Bowl - The first game to introduce the real NFl players. This was nothing short of mind blowing in its day. To be able to play as Walter Payton or Jerry Rice was incredible. We take it for allowed now, but this is what started it all.

4) Contra - The mom of all codes: Up, Up, Down, Down, Left, Right, Left, Right, B. A, Begin. If you didn’t know that code, you couldn’t have called yourself a gamer.

3) Super Mario Bros - What hasn’t been said about this game? The game might have single handedly saved the home video game console. After Atari bombed, Nintendo needed something like this.

2) The Legend of Zelda - More addictive than ice cream. I have to have spent all of my fourth grade year trying to beat the game. Arguably the most influential game of all time.

1) Super Mario Bros. 3 - The game was the perfect lead in to the new generation consoles and showed where video gaming was going.
